May I create my own website?

MortgageStar has spent considerable time and resources developing a brand image. Allowing loan officers to use our name in their own version of a website would simply not work.

Instead, we give you a customized our official website. MortgageStar subscribes to Internet clipping services which track unauthorized use of our name to protect our brand.

Am I required to be a full-time employee?

No, but you are required to be a W2 employee, but you must be exclusive - you can not work for or be affiliated with any other mortgage company.

May I send loans directly to your investors?

No, MortgageStar is the lender. We process, underwrite and close all loans from our corporate headquarters in Bethesda, MD.

Do you offer broker products?

Yes. Since MortgageStar has an extensive list of approved investors - over 250 lenders. Occasionally a loan will be submitted to us and we will choose not to make that loan. We will forward the file to Ken Gustafson (one of our underwriters in Bethesda, MD) who will attempt to place the loan with one of our approved investors. When this option is utilized we will split the profit with you 50/50.

May I advertise?

Absolutely, using our pre-designed ad slicks and marketing materials-you'll look good!

May I print my own business cards and marketing materials?

No. In order to maintain a uniform brand image, it is important that all of the marketing materials, including business cards come from us. We are not in the business of selling marketing materials. We provide these materials to you.

Do I need a branch license?

You do not need a branch license to be a StarAssociate. You are a loan officer who telecommutes through the corporate headquarters address in Bethesda, MD. The corporate headquarters street address will be on all correspondences.

May I have a commercial location?

No, you are a loan officer, working from home and telecommuting to Bethesda, MD.
